A book a little different in a good way. It is great for enhancing dexterity and artistic skills, and learning how to make a ' butterfly origami" and other interesting shapes. It encourages practices that develop patience, and the capacity to understand concepts of patterns, angles, and symmetries. I could say that it is good for both children and adolescents or anyone who wants to develop a little more their motor cortex and other parts of the brain. A book a little different in a good way. Actually I don't have this book, but for some reason Goodreads lists the book I have but I can't access it. I don't know why, so.... I won ORIGAMI TO ASTONISH AND AMUSE by Jeremy Shafer so until I'm able to access that book I'll put my review under this book

I give the author much applause!! He's extremely talented & artistic and most of all I bless his heart. The book I received is 249 pages of items to make through origami. Unfortunately I have 10 fat thumbs & once something takes more than 5 steps, I'm lost, dazed& confused. This comes quite naturally for him & he's certainly a master of this art form of which I'm extremely jealous. I've had countless kits with paper & manuals & the most I can make is a paper ball when I throw it away.
The titles and the names of some of these paper items are hilarious. I took a real liking to the chapter "origami for the deranged" not only is the author talented but he's very funny also. Since I can't fold my way out of at issue box, at least I was amused by the paper works of art and their titles. I did however make .....an envelope!! :) oh how I wish I could make ALL the paper art projects but alas my inability to follow directions much past 5 steps and that I'm not artistic or talented and came equipped with those 10 fat thumbs of mine, this is a book I'll look back time and time again wanting and trying to make something other than an envelope. I give kudos to the author for at least trying but I just wasn't made to do origami much to my dismay, since I love to look at it from those talented enough to do so
If you're talented or even are able to read and have patience to try to follow the steps and love origami or would like to try....the book I received is an absolute gem!!! I just wish I had the author in my home to teach it to me
I'd like to thank Jeremy & the St Martin's Griffin, the publisher, for giving me yet another chance to try origami, but its just not very possible for me :(. I do however love the book and the paper art he can make and does make quite easily :)
Sorry Jeremy, it's not your fault I'm untalented. I gave it another shot & from time to time I'll keep trying again and again!! You haven't failed, I did!
